Yoga Fundraising for MCFB

pay it forward cakesyoga exercise

MCFB was approached by two Edinburgh yoga studios, Yoga Mix and Karma Yoga,  to be the beneficiary of their first 'Pay It Forward' fundraising event on 2nd Mary 2015. Both Steve and Philippa attended their yoga workshops and there were also a couple of familiar faces there who used to be on placement at MCFB so it was nice to catch up with them. A good day was had by all and £196 was raised at the event, which will be used to pay for outdoor activities for the groups during the summer.

Feedback from BME Families in Early Years Event

We received the following feedback from people that attended the event we took part in on 25th September 2014 (see past events), which was an opportunity for staff and volunteer from partner agencies to find out more about local services that support black and minority ethnic (BME) families:

Goodbye

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to staff members Sylvia Hamilton and Jingyi Robertson just before Christmas. After having been both a student and a project worker (4-2-7 project) at MCFB, Sylvia has left to work for City of Edinburgh. Jingyi, who worked part time with our Early Years team and made a very valuable contribution to our work with Chinese families, has left to pursue an academic career at Unversity of Edinburgh. We wish them both all the best in their new ventures.

New Text Donation service

MCFB have joined the Just Giving Vodafone text donation service and we are currently running a campaign to raise funds for the purchasing of football boots for our football project. Many of the children that attend the football project come wearing their school shoes, these being the only shoes they own. One boy recently turned up in a pair of wellies and another in a pair of shoes held together with elastic bands. Donations of shoes were gratefully received via an appeal at the Easter Road stadium, but we still need more.

Danny Bhoy Fundraiser a Huge Success

Following the very successful run of his 12 Nights 12 Charities fringe show, Danny Bhoy visited all 12 locally based charities to hand over the money raised - a staggering total of £75,240.61. The funds will be split equally among all 12 charities and Multi-Cultural Family Base will use their share of the money towards funding the Football Project.
