Supporting Migrant and Refugee Children with School Transition

Supporting Migrant and Refugee Children with School Transition

I love school, migrant children, refugee children, starting school, transitions.

Dr Autumn Roesch-Marsh, senior lecturer in social work from the University of Edinburgh is unveiling research on the experiences of migrant and refugee children starting school in a free public lecture on 10th November from 1.30 pm to 3pm at MacDonald road library in Edinburgh as part of an exhibition running until 10th November 2018.

The research was carried out over a year and is based on observations of migrant and refugee children within group settings both at MCFB and at school as well as on interviews with the children's parents, with teachers and with project workers at MCFB. The findings from the research will be used by Dr Roesch-Marsh to make recommendations to professionals working with migrant and refugee children on how to support them with the transition from nursery to school.

The exhibition features children's art work as well as quotes from the research. A free light lunch will be provided and there will be arts activities for children during the lecture.
