Funding reprieve for threatened projects

Funding reprieve for threatened projects

Equal Edinburgh campaign update image

Following our Equal Edinburgh campaign earlier this year, we were relieved to learn that, despite not being awarded funding via the Children and Families Third Party Grants award process, the Short Life Working Group, commissioned by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Education, Children and Families Committee, recommended continuation Funding be awarded to 15 projects that were initially turned down.

The Group recognised that BAME agencies were underrepresented in the allocation of grants, and funding was awarded to MCFB as well as Equal Edinburgh coalition partners, Sikh Sanjog.

MCFB's Acting CEO, Anne Spiers said: "We are aware that there are many excellent projects that were not awarded funding, including one of our Equal Edinburgh Coalition partners, Intercultural Youth Scotland. We will do our best to partner and collaborate to improve services for vulnerable BAME children and families in Edinburgh".

The funding will sustain our work with many of Edinburgh's most vulnerable and underrepresented communities. More specifically. it will allow our Early Years Service and our 4Corners project, which uses the medium of sport to engage with disadvantaged school aged children, to continue for another 3 years.
