We are excited to announce that ‘Dreaming, Perseverance, Resilience – The Story of Multi-Cultural Family Base’, a film made by ‘Written in Film’ and first shown at the Scottish Parliament in November 2018, is now available to view online at https://youtu.be/xjfp3zP457Y.  The film, which was made to mark MCFB’s 20 anniversary, charts the history of the agency and its responses to the needs of families who have settled in Edinburgh from over 54 countries of origin. Children have been referred and continue to be referred to MCFB for a number of reasons. These range from loss, displacement, social isolation and domestic abuse to discrimination, adjusting to a different culture and dealing with practical difficulties, such as housing. Having started in a small basement room with a single desk, MCFB has grown to be an organization that supports an average of 450 Black and Minority Ethnic children and families per year, employs 15 members of staff and offers up to 35 placements to social work students at Scottish universities per year.

We would welcome your comments/reviews on our film, which you can either post directly on our YouTube channel or send to us by email (philippa.kemp@mcfb.org.uk). Please let us know if you would be interested in an opportunity to view the film on a big screen. If there is sufficient interest, this could be incorporated into a future fundraising event.  There are a number of other short films also made by Written in Film which you will find on our YouTube channel and which provide a more in-depth insight into our work with babies and young children as well as with women who have experienced trauma. Please spread the word by sharing the YouTube link to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmHK7vLayrQknuyhna9xezQ

We hope you enjoy the film!
