MCFB AGM 2015

This year's AGM will take place at our offices on Thursday 10th December at 4pm. The business of the AGM will take place in an informal way. New Pilot Project is Stepping Out

We are very excited to announce that we have secured funding for a new pilot project that will help young people transition from school to ‘positive destinations’.  

Funding for this project, called ‘Stepping Out’, has been provided by the Leith Neighbourhood Partnership Community Grants Fund and will run for six months, starting 1 November 2015. However, it is hoped that, should the project prove successful, funding from other sources will be obtained to continue the work.

Bina's Last Serve

After more than ten years working at MCFB, we are sad to say that Bina Chaudhry will be leaving the staff team. In the long term we are planning to appoint a new Project Leader to lead the Children in Need funded Group Work Project for which Bina was responsible alongside her role as Depute Chief Executive.

Many Journeys Many Voices Film Launch a Success

On 28th May 2015 we launched our documentary film, Many Journeys, Many Voices at the Hibs' Supporters Club in Edinburgh. Dr. Daniela Sime from the University of Strathclyde and Eileen Simpson, Principal Teacher of the English as an Additional Language (EAL) service at the City of Edinburgh Council gave presentations on their experiences of working with young people and families who have settled in Scotland at the launch which provided additional context to the film.  Tam Baillie, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People also gave a presentation.

We are delighted to announce that our film, Many Journeys Many Voices, which was funded by the Big Lottery Awards for All programme, is ready to be released. The short film, produced by film maker Pawel Nuckowski, highlights the experiences and challenges faced by children and young people who have migrated to Scotland.
