Today is the day the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child ( #UNCRC ) is officially incorporated into Scottish law!

The incorporation builds on Scotland's long history of protecting children's rights but is also just the start of the opportunities it provides. Today will make Scotland the only country in the UK and the only devolved nation in the world to directly incorporate the UNCRC into domestic law.

A vital piece of the UNCRC is the strength of young voices and that they need to be listened to. In a recent meeting of MCFB’s Young Ambassadors, the importance of listening and amplifying came up as one of our Ambassadors said very clearly: “Support young voices”.

We look forward to the next steps of ensuring the rights of the UNCRC are enshrined for every child, fairly and without discrimination.
