We at the Multi-Cultural Family Base are devastated to hear about the passing of Sir Geoff Palmer KT OBE. He was a tireless champion for the cause of racial justice, and served MCFB in this cause for many years. His contributions to our Board and the wider world of anti-racism and science are priceless and we will miss his wisdom and gentle attitude immensely. We fully intend to carry on his legacy of excellence, compassion, and fighting for a more just and inclusive world.   

Even with his tremendous accolades and knowledge, Sir Geoff was always down to earth and incredibly humble. One member of staff noted that whenever on a video call, his name on the screen always just read “Geoff”. That was his approach to the world. Regardless of background or way we live, we are all just people. This quote from MCFB’s 25th Anniversary Party sums it up well; 

“So we’re working to change those views, to make sure that people are not judged on skin colour or differences of culture. And what we’re telling people is we are one humanity, nothing less.”
