This year, MCFB is looking to the Leith community to fund a new project called 'Sunshine on Multicultural Family'. If you live, work, study or volunteer in Leith and you are aged 8 or over, you can vote for us to receive funding at the Leith Chooses event. Our project will offer 40 Black and Minority Ethnic families 4 all day summer outings during the school holidays.  50% of the young people will have additional support needs. 

Why vote for us?

• We want to improve family interactions, reduce social isolation and stress, promote friendships across cultural and ethnic groups and increase play opportunities for children.
• Our project will meet the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged families who will be affected by some or all of the following issues / needs: social isolation; experiences around migration and refugee status; trauma;  language barriers; racism; poverty / housing difficulties and health issues.
• We want to give children a positive experience where they can make friends and have something to talk about when they return to school. The trips will be to the beach, to country parks and other green spaces.
• We will work with our own service users as well as with Dr Bell’s Family Centre, Sikh Sanjog, Shakti and Saheliya in order to ensure that we reach families most in need of our support.
