The 4-2-7 Project is for children aged 4 to 7 years, who may be experiencing difficulties managing the transition to primary school. We work with children to:

  • improve emotional wellbeing
  • reduce social isolation
  • develop the confidence and skills they need to become more successful learners
‘The work has helped my children improve their confidence. Their relationships have improved, their interactions with others, their associations with people. They are more confident to make friends. The work has helped us to understand as parents how they can improve through play together and toys'

In other words, we want to help children feel happier about who they are, be able to make new friends and do the best they can at school.

We do this by working with children either on a one-to-one basis or in small therapeutic groups which are based in schools, nurseries and our centre at 50 Coburg Street. We can also work alongside the child’s family, for example to support positive parenting strategies.

We can work with BME children and their families throughout Edinburgh and are also able to work with White/Scottish children and families living in Leith.

One of our groups in this project is the Mums' Group, who are mothers of children in the 4-2-7 project. Learn more by watching this video:
