25th Anniversary Celebration
On the 25th of October, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary. This was an evening full of reflection and entertainment, supported by good food.
We are overwhelmingly grateful to have had so many partners and supporters from over many years join us. A wonderful evening of reminiscing and looking forward, accompanied by music, poetry, dance, and more.
Thank you to Ethelinda for her indefatigable and relentlessly positive work over the past nine months, and for hosting the event. Steve Gowenlock spoke to the history and enduring legacy of MCFB over the past 25 years. Sir Geoff Palmer looked back on his personal story and the resources that weren’t initially available to him in his time as a young person of colour, and how MCFB has remedied this for many families throughout Edinburgh and over the years.
We had working professionals perform for us, as well as Edinburgh College students who are the up-and-coming talent of their programmes. The energy was infectious, and the acts carried some deep truths about the power of community and feeling like we can belong even in our differences.
Finally, what is a birthday party without cake? Kids’ party had cupcakes, and evening party had an assortment of cakes, but all with some very important candle numbers!
