Projects

MCFB aims to promote flexible and personalized therapeutic work with children and their families, offering individual, family and group support. We provide services to all families in north Edinburgh and to families from BME communities across Edinburgh. Our aim is that 60% of our service users will be BME children and families.

MCFB offers practice learning opportunities to a significant number of students, mainly studying for the social work degree. In addition, we have developed other related projects, which include a mentoring service for BME social work students, a project to support BME people entering education and training for the social services workforce and a research project ‘BME Young People Speaking Out’. More detail about the projects can be found on each project page.

“MCFB helped me to gain the confidence to learn and to obtain work as a crèche worker”

“My BME mentor supported my learning needs throughout my placement. Without this I would have struggled and might not have developed my full potential. I am now able to recognise my identity as a black minority ethnic professional and practise social work competently.”
