Harmeny Education TrustWelcome from the Chief Executive
Welcome to Harmeny Education Trust Limited. We are a charitable organisation, providing a range of high quality services in the areas of care, education, outdoor learning and staff development. Our core service, Harmeny School, offers specialist education services, both on a day and all year round residential basis, for children of primary school age up to Secondary 2 stage. As a Grant Aided Special School, we work with children whose difficulties impact on their social, emotional and behavioural development and give rise to complex Additional Support Needs. We provide services on both a national and local basis, with children being referred by Local Authorities throughout the whole of Scotland.
We firmly believe that staff are our most important resource and that continual investment in their development is vital in ensuring a stable and consistent workforce crucial in enabling children to feel able to build trusting and secure relationships. We believe it takes a special kind of person to work with the group of children who come to Harmeny and our staff group more than fulfill this expectation, demonstrating real commitment and passion for the work they do and providing a combination of warmth and consistent boundaries. In return we offer a positive and supportive environment to work, excellent terms and conditions and a wide range of learning and development opportunities. A core part of our Learning and Development strategy is our well established partnership with MCFB. Through this partnership, we provide placement opportunities for up to ten Social Work students per year and we have our own in-house Practice Learning Assessor, Lorraine Grady, seconded from MCFB. Social Work students from universities throughout Scotland have benefitted from practice learning opportunities at Harmeny, with very positive feedback regarding the quality of learning, as well as some who have returned as sessional and permanent staff.
We are delighted to have you on board as a member of our team for the duration of your placement and hope you will find the unique experience of working at Harmeny to be positive and fulfilling. During your time with us, we expect that you will:
I wish you every success in your individual programme.
