About UsMCFB is an Edinburgh-based voluntary organisation which is committed to providing flexible and personalised services to vulnerable children, young people and their families. We provide a range of services including individual support to young people, therapeutic group work and art therapy. Our work is more fully described on the projects pages. MCFB was officially inaugurated on 1st March 1998. Since that time it has grown significantly and has merged, firstly in 2003 with the former Family Resource Network Student Project and then more recently in 2006 with Leith Sure Start which is now MCFB Early Years Service. We have also developed additional projects supporting BME social work students, listening to the voices of BME young people and facilitating access to the social services workforce for BME people. MCFB was originally conceived in response to research indicating that BME families faced barriers in accessing mainstream services. In all our work we are committed to challenging barriers, to providing sensitive services which support individuals in accessing mainstream services and which also provide feedback on how services, including our own, can be more accessible to diverse communities. |
